Bunnings: Lowest emissions are just the beginning!

In the first week of March, dozens of Greenpeace activists from across Australia turned out to their local Bunnings stores to call on Bunnings to commit to 100% renewable energy.

Greenpeace Local Action Group activists donned cheeky Bunnings-branded aprons and chatted with staff and customers outside stores from Brunswick to Bendigo, Narrabeen to Newcastle and Alexandria to Adelaide. Our activists surveyed Bunnings staff and customers on their feelings about big businesses committing to renewable energy, and how they felt about Bunnings following suit.

The results demonstrated overwhelming support from customers for Bunnings to switch to renewable energy:

  • Over 80% of respondents said it was important to them hat Bunnings are doing their bit to tackle climate change.
  • Over 95% said they’d be happier working for or shopping at company they knew was powered by renewable energy
  • Over 98% wanted to see Bunnings make the switch to 100% renewable electricity!

These results show that if Bunnings, and other major companies, switch their operations to 100% clean energy, not only will they make a big difference to energy use, they’ll also energise their huge customer bases around this crucial issue.

Bunnings your move next! 😀
