Google adopted a 100% renewable electricity commitment in 2012, and claims that its global electricity demand is now matched with equivalent renewable energy supply. Google’s next step is to now match its demand with local renewable electricity supply in each country that it has operations. Greenpeace Australia Pacific understand’s Google has not yet met this goal in Australia. Google is a member of RE100.
Google has undertaken a significant number of PPAs globally. However, Google has not yet announced the signing of any renewable power purchase agreement in Australia.
Google has not yet announced the installation of any on site solar for its Australian operations.
Google was not required to report under the National Greenhouse Emissions Reporting Scheme in 2017-18.
