100% Renewable Electricity Commitment by 2030
Woolworths has committed to powering its operations with 100% renewable electricity by 2025.
Power Purchase Agreement
Woolworths signed a power purchase agreement with the new-build Bango wind farm near Yass in NSW in June 2021. This PPA will cover around 30% of Woolworths electricity needs for NSW.
Woolworths has installed solar panels at 126 stores and 2 distribution centres with a total capacity of 14MW. It has also installed a Tesla battery at Erskine Park distribution centre which entered full operation in September 2018, and is paired with a 400kW solar system. Woolworths has been trialling electric trucks and has undertaken a large energy efficiency program.
